VISITING THE MIDDLE YEARS

On Wednesday the 18th, the year 3’s & 4’s walked up to the middle years campus. When they were up there they did three activities. The three activities were; games on the interactive white board, stepping stones and last but not least, yellow pages. When we did the Yellow pages , we had to write our name and what we are good at, so if someone needed help they would know who to see about it. With the game stepping stones, we would have a caller who would be the person at the start of the line, the whole class chose who was the loudest person to be the caller. They would have to yell step, and there has to be 2 feet on each rock it’s apart of team work. On the interactive whiteboard we got into alphabetical order of our names, then the teacher put us in groups of 4 and we needed a writer and a timer. We got a sheet of paper and we had to write what we wanted to do next year on the interactive white board, to help our learning skills. We were told that next year at the middle years campus the year 5’s will be learning about the heart and the brain and all of the other parts of the body. All of the year 4’s are really exited about going to the senior campus. Thank-you to all of the year 4 teachers for helping us through the year.

Local Safety Walk

On Monday the 26th of October 2009 the Year 4’s went on a local safety walk. We walked around the Mill Park Lakes estate. We went to see if we could find any safety hazards or concerns. We found a whole lot of hazards. Eg: pattersons curse, open drains, tall grass, sharp rocks, utilities and algi in the water. We also saw that the lake near the milk bar and Sinners pizza had no rail guards near the water. We were amazed by how many hazards we found. It just goes to show how careful we have to be.

WE KNOW HOW TO ROCK!!!!!!

On Friday the 16th of October, 4.1 Kathryn’s home group went to music. We were studying African music using bells, shakers and drums. We started to experiment with the instruments and then Gary gave some people some instruments and a beat. When we got to the third group we all got the hang of it. We kept going to the end of the lesson. Gary joined in with the saxophone and everyone got an instruments from the box and joined in.

Imax & Planetarium

On the 3rd of August The Lakes Grade 4’s went to the Planetarium & Imax. First we got on the bus and took off. When we got to Scienceworks we split into our home groups and met up with a man that works there. He let us have a play. There were three sections. We didn’t go in one of them ... that was the house section. The ones we went in were sport and math. In sport there was rock climbing, a little track, snowboarding, skateboarding, a bike and up above was a skeleton on a bike copying you and lots more. In Math there is weight, height, strength, balance, eye sight and lots more. After we did that stuff we went in the Planetarium. The show we watched was a thing about a girl called Anna. Anna never saw her teacher and she had to listen to him through a radio. She learnt about the Earth’s tilt and how the seasons pass. In Winter, the sun would be low in the sky in Summer, it will be right above you in the middle of the sky. In Autumn the sun is just above the Winter sun and in Spring just above the Autumn sun. After that show we saw all the constellations. After all that we hopped on the bus and went to Imax. When we got there we had to be quiet and so we went in one of the theatres and watched some astronauts in 3D in space that went for 45 minutes. When it was finished we got back on the bus and went back to school.
The End
